Realia is proud to announce the release of 'Inisint' EP (Realia004) by trapcore duo INSIN, comprised of Welsh producer/vocalist Elvin Brandhi and Palestinian producer/MC Bashar Suleiman. Formed in Cairo in 2018, with Inisint the duo consolidate a recently established yet prolific alliance, completing a trilogy which includes two earlier co-authored EPs (both released in 2019, 'Sadsun' on Cairo-based label/collective/artist residence Hizz, and 'INSINCERITY' on Vienna's imprint Amen).
Uncompromising in spirit and uninhibited on stage, INSIN’s politically engaged yet down-to-earth artistic practice preserves a genuine sense of craftsmanship, in the fullest sense of the term, which eludes any form of domestication and becomes even more evident in this new work. Contaminated with trap’s latest developments, but clearly imbued with an anti-establishment, bitterly punk attitude, in Inisint sharp-edged metallic fragments driven forward by pulsing rhythms provide the backdrop against which Elvin Brandhi’s and Bashar Suleiman’s digitally stretched, mantra-like vocals surface—sometimes in the form of an intimate, almost indistinct chatter, at other times with high-spirited, although contained, vehemence.
The duo’s five tracks are assembled together as a freeform architecture, wherein a great variety of biodigital elements become the constitutive parts of a polymateric sculpture: crafted with sound and to be handled with care. All in all, the thrill of this work stems from its capacity to arouse conflicting emotions at once, ranging from vengeful anger to light-heartened abandon.
INSIN's five original tracks are complemented with three remixes. Charged with reinterpreting ‘Aknno’, the EP’s opening track, are Occult Punk Gang alumni Wisecrack—in partnership with Enjoyable Music. ‘Kidney Spears’, the second track from Inisint, has inspired two remixes—by Labyrinth Body and Blue Plastic, respectively. Labyrinth Body (also known as Cobweaver | Yem Gel) has turned Elvin Brandhi’s vocals-led piece into a synthetic neo-Renaissance solo cantata. Blue Plastic’s eerily immersive remix serves as the final track of the EP, whose vertiginous 7-minute coda sounds like vanishing into the most remote corner of a forbidden memory.

This music is insistent and relentless. The fact that it has a ritualistic feel, with almost all sounds pushed to the edge of explosion isn't an accident. Well worth repeated listening. veenstar
